Vintage Cars

Gorgeous, high-quality Restomod from an estate. This is one of two vintage Chevys in the estate; the other being a very original ’63 Impala SS 409. This ’57 Bel Air has had the same owner since 1999; frame-off restored and restomodded in 2004-2006. We have 92 before- and during-restoration pics that come with the car. India Ivory over Vermillion Red. Body is straight as an arrow, and paint is a mile deep with no cracks, fisheyes, orange peel, or other imperfections. 350 four-bolt main truck block bored to 362; align-bored and balanced; Scat 4340 forged crank; Eagle 4340 H-beam rods; JE forged aluminum pistons; “Duntov” (Crane grind) 30/30 solid cam; Crane aluminum roller rockers; Comp Cams pushrods; MSD ignition; Sanderson headers; Edelbrock Victor Jr. intake; Holley 750 double pumper. Tremec TKO 5-speed; original ’57 rear with positraction, Strange Engineering ring and pinion, and bearings, and Williams traction bars. Lowered 2 inches; 17” Billet Specialties “Ventec” wheels; power steering; power front disc brakes; PST bushings and sway bars. Frame was blasted and powdercoated. All chrome was re-chromed; all brightwork professionally buffed and polished.

Other features include Ididit tilt column; 15” steering wheel; Autometer gauges; Dynamat; Vintage Air (blows ice cold); Rain Gear electric wipers; Custom Autosound system with CD changer.

This car is a complete restoration. Nothing was left untouched. It drives way more like a modern car than something from the ‘50s. Too many trophies and awards to list. The late owner stated “My intent was to produce a car that had the look and feel of a vintage ’57, but with significantly enhanced performance and mechanical features.” It appears he more than succeeded. This is an extremely tasteful restomod. Driving and cold starting videos are available.

In the (deceased) owner’s words:

1963 Chevy 409 "She's real fine, my 409!"

FROM ESTATE: 1963 Chevy Impala SS 409

This car, from an estate, appears to be a very correct original, not a tribute. The deceased owner claimed it was correct, and the transmission matches. VIN is 31847S173743. The brightwork is too nice to be 57 years old, so I suspect at some point it received a cosmetic freshening. Color is the correct original Ember Red. The engine, a 425 hp 409, is not numbers-matching, but it codes as a 425 horse 409. Since there are only 12 digits in the VIN, none of them for the engine, we would need either the numbers match, or to find the build sheet. We removed the back seat in the hope that the build sheet would be there. No such luck. Transmission is a Borg-Warner T-10. Rear end contains 3.70 gears with PosiTraction. The only items I have found so far that are not correct are: several aftermarket gauges mounted under the dash, the shifter (it’s a Hurst, appears to be a Competition Plus), the battery, and the rear sway bar.  The front sway bar appears larger than stock. The addition of sway bars were common to help control body roll, especially while running repro bias ply tires. Otherwise, it seems very correct. Runs and drives very well.  Engine, clutch, shifter, all work as they should. Chassis is super clean. Use of bondo is extremely limited to several small spots behind the rear wheels. Exceptionally nice car. Looks like it’s about 2 years old, and only gently used. Pictures of several paint chips, and a soft dent in the left rear quarter, are included. The (deceased) owner’s son said he hit something while parking it inside his garage. Careful PDR should remove most, if not all, of it.
